Steven J. Gorga, President and Chief Executive Officer, Travel Impressions

FARMINGDALE, NY – A travel industry veteran with 26 years of experience, Steve Gorga is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Travel Impressions, one of the country’s largest tour operators with destinations to the Caribbean, Mexico, Florida, Hawaii, Las Vegas and Europe. Travel Impressions, a subsidiary of American Express, also operates American Express Vacations.

Prior to joining Travel Impressions as the President and CEO in July 2001, Gorga was President of Kemwel Holiday Autos, the world’s largest leisure car rental wholesaler. In addition, Gorga held senior management positions for seven years with Reed Elsevier at Reed Travel Group, ABC Corporate Services and Utell International, which provided him with experience in worldwide markets including Europe, Asia and Latin America.

Before working at Reed, Gorga spent 15 years with American Airlines and AMR Corporation. After two years on the internal audit staff of American Airlines, he was promoted to the SABRE Travel Information Network where he created and managed SABRE’s first marketing department and directed its entry into the European market. Throughout those 15 years, Gorga held key posts within the organization that enabled him to broaden his experience in sales, marketing, product development and operations.

Gorga’s wealth of industry knowledge and keen marketing savvy has made him a valuable consultant on various projects. At Reed, he was one of four key senior executives selected to evaluate technology opportunities and work closely with EDS to determine potential technology ventures in which both companies could jointly develop. As a result, Reed purchased two companies and grew its product portfolio.

Gorga has traveled extensively throughout the world and has often been called upon as a speaker, moderator or guest panelist at various travel and hospitality industry functions. He was named one of the travel industry’s “25 Most Influential Executives” in April 2000 by Leisure Travel News. In January 2001, Travel Agent Magazine named him Car Rental “Person of the Year.”

Gorga graduated from Rider College in 1973 with a BS in Commerce, majoring in Management Science. He also holds an MBA in Marketing from Adelphi University. He resides in New York, with his wife of 27 years, and their two children, ages 25 and 19.
