Bar Goldener Hirsch, Guests walking into the Bar Goldener Hirsch can expect a continuation of the hotel's traditional motif as stags are affixed above the arches on white walls. Dispersed among the tables covered in hand woven linens are fauteuil arm chairs, just right for basking in the open sky ambiance. Originally an inner courtyard where horses would await their owners' return, the space is now considered one of the world's most beautifully outfitted Bauernstil rooms, and is a favorite of distinguished international travelers. The extensive cocktail and fine wine list is marked by the "Rendezvous with Susanne," the bar's most well-known drink. As legend has it, young Susanne patronized the bar with her parents for many years. When her parents indulged in a libation, she would order an orange juice. Later, the renowned bartender added a bit of Cassis. When Susanne was 13-years-old, tonic water was added, Campari at 16, and vodka at 18. Today it is the "Susanne," and a specialty that regular guests look forward to. Well-patronized year round, the bar is especially bustling during festival season as the preferred pre and post-concert stop: a place to see, be seen, and unwind.

Restaurant Goldener Hirsch, "Looking out towards Herbert-von- Karajan-Square" and Festival Hall are the doors of Restaurant Goldener Hirsch. What was once a ferrier's shop-where locals brought their horses to be shoed-has become one of Salzburg's most illustrious restaurants, favored by government officials, world-class performers, and members of the international social set. The simply sophisticated dining room pays homage to its humble ancestry with rustic Austrian wooden chairs and tables that harmonize with the wooden beams that cross the ceiling. Pronounced arches and white walls are decorated with engravings of hunting scenes that recall an era of grandeur. Austrian green is featured in the traditional waiter uniforms and table linens. Hand woven in white and green, they feature the hotel's signature stag motif. Be sure to note the table next to the old fireplace. Named the Grilltisch, it has been there since the restaurant opened, and is the spot where an architect was chosen to design the Festival Hall. The most sought after table in the restaurant, however, is the Karajan-Table, a famous composers regular spot. True authenticity is also reflected in the cuisine, the work of the chef who has been with the hotel for over 16 years. An incomparable combination of traditional Salzburg specialties accompanied by new international dishes, The Chef's creations have earned the restaurant many Awards. While the menu changes in conjunction with the seasons, a few signature dishes are Ham mousse with Cumberland sauce, Saddle of farm-raised venison with red cabbage, and Bohemian dumpling with cranberries. For dessert there is the Rigo Jansci: a rich chocolate sponge cake with indulgent chocolate mousse filling. According to legend, it was created by a former Belgian Princess for her lover. A perfect accompaniment to any meal is a bottle of wine from the extensive cellar, which boasts a cultured selection of some of the best Austrian and worldwide vintages.
