The hotel's auspicious beginnings date back to 1467 when it was known as the "Locanda del Montone" the "sole" or sunshine was added a few centuries later to give birth to the name "Albergo del Sole al Pantheon" by which it is still referred to today.

Desks and bedside tables are made from local Peperino dark green stone. Soft beds made up with sheets and blankets are decorated with padded headboards and canopies. All rooms feature antique prints of Roman scenes. Bathrooms have marble sink ledges, marble-edged infinity mirrors, and jetted tubs with power showers.
