Documents required to get married in the Dominican Republic:  

• You will need 2 witnesses who can be traveling with you or you can ask local hotel staff to witness your wedding. Foreign witnesses must have valid passports.  

• Original birth certificates. Bring or send two photocopies.  

• Valid passports. Bring or send two photocopies of the main page.  

• Statutory declarations of Single Status legalized by the Consulate of the Dominican Republic. Bring or send one original and two photocopies*.  

• Divorce certificate or death certificate (if applicable). Bring original or notarized photocopy and two simple photocopies. In both cases, a minimum waiting period of 10 months applies before you can remarry*.  

• Adoption Certificate (only for adopted individuals, translated in to Spanish)  

• Certificate confirming change of names (only for individuals in this particular situation, translated in to Spanish)  

*The Honorary Consulate of the Dominican Republic has to translate and legalize these documents.
