River Lodge is the soul of Lion Sands and has been built on the banks of the Sabie River, positioned on a site with trees dating back 800 years. Facing due east, the lodge catches the sun as it rises over the Kruger National Park. Hosted by a family of staff that make it feel like home away from home, the lodge is about spirit, warmth and nature. Here you are invited to relax and experience African hospitality at its finest. The public areas at River Lodge offers guests the following: • a private lounge and bar with fireplace, an outdoor safari lounge, 2 swimming pools (heated in winter), wooden viewing decks, a secluded bird hide, a magnificent River Island Deck built on the river, a conference room, Lalamuka Health Spa & gymnasium, curio shop & both an indoor and open-air (Boma) dining area. Arrival/Departure Time: • Check-in-time: 12:00 pm Check-out-time: 11:00 am Early check-in and late checkout on request, and subject to availability. Children Policy: • Children under the age of 10 years are not permitted. Children aged 10 or 11 years may share a room with 2 full paying adults at the applicable child rate. Children over 12 years old and adults will have to stay in their own room. Maximum Occupancy: • Luxury - 2 adults or 2 adults and 1 child. Luxury, There are 18 luxurious thatched bedrooms with en-suite bathroom, outdoor and indoor shower and wooden viewing deck. The bedroom area is air-conditioned with an over-head fan. All rooms have a mini-bar and telephone access. The rooms are linked to all areas by raised wooden walkways. All accommodations include: shower, ceiling fan, bathroom (ensuite), air conditioning, mini-bar and telephone. What To Bring: • Anti-malaria precautions (consult your doctor), sunhat, sunglasses, sun block, sturdy comfortable ankle length thick-soled walking boots or track shoes, cameras, binoculars, video camera and spare batteries, lip cream, contact lens solutions and spare glasses and personal medications. What To Wear: • Winter Months (May-September): • Very warm insulated parkas or bush jackets for the night safaris. • Scarves to keep the neck warm. • Jeans and shorts for every day wear. • Light sweaters for midday period. Summer Months (October to April): • Cool cotton clothing, tee shirts & shirts (preferably in neutral colors) shorts for every day year. • Swim wear • Sandals to wear at the Lodge (not essential, but more comfortable). Private Land Rovers: • The sole use of a Land Rover can be arranged upon request, subject to availability and will be at an additional charge. |
