Located near the tip of the Yucatan Peninsula and close to the Gulf of Mexico, Merida is close to the Mayan Ruins, Uxmal and Chichen-Itza, where you can discover towering pyramids, ceremonial sites, places, and temples. You can always find colorful festivals with live bands, all night partying and dancing in the streets. There are daily music and dance performances in the many city parks and travelers may choose to dance the night away in one of the many discos. |
Fun Fact: Many taxi drivers receive a commission from restaurants when they drop off passengers. Therefore, if a driver recommends a restaurant to you, take it with a grain of salt - particularly if the driver has tried to talk you out of a restaurant that you were already seeking. |
