EXCURSION TO THE ISLANDS (MURANO, BURANO, TORCELLO)

We will start from St. Mark's Square to go direct to Murano Island, the biggest Island famous for its glass- works. Here, in 1291 all the glassblowers, were moved for security reasons. Than we will go to Burano Island famous for its painted houses and buildings and for its lace works. At the end to boat will leave toward Torcello that is the smaller of the three islands. Now, only 13 people are living there but, on the X century it was a big center with 40,000 people. It was the richest and most powerful island on the lagoon.

MEETING POINT: Giardini Reali (Alilaguna Pier)

CITY SIGHTSEEING ON FOOT

We will start with an introduction of the history and origins of Venice, and a visit to the St. Mark's Church from the year 832 d.c., built to protect the body of evangelist St. Mark brought to Venice from Alessandria. From the Doge's Palace, where the Doge lived, we will cross through the Bridge of Sights, built in the year 1600, to arrive to the Prison's Palace. At the end of the tour you can visit the artistic glass factory in Murano Island to admire the creation masterpieces (optional visit)
