Assisi and Orvieto including Lunch Tour 19 Duration: 12 hours - full day

We leave Rome along the Autostrada del Sole. Upon arrival in Orvieto we visit its famous beautiful Cathedral. We then proceed to Assisi where we visit the Church of Santa Chiara where St Francis was born. We walk through the narrow streets past the Piazza del Commune, Palazzo dei Priori, Palazzo del Popolo and the Temple of Minerva. We continue to the Basilica of St. Francis with the masterpieces of Giotto & Cimabue. After lunch in a local restaurant there is free time. We then continue by bus to the Basilica if Santa Maria degli Angeli, the place where St. Francis lived and died, with a visit to the Porziuncola Chapel. Return to Rome with arrival at the hotels or their surroundings at about 19.00.

Rome of the Caesars Tour B Duration: half day

From Piazza Di Spagna your English speaking guide will take you by minibus to Piazza Venezia, where you will see the imposing memorial to Victor Emanuel II, the first King of a united Italy. Continue to the Roman Forum. After walking down the Via Sacra past the Arch of Titus you will visit the Colosseum encircled by grandiose edifices such as the Temple of Rome and Venus and the Arch of Constantine the Great. The tour will then proceed to the 5th century Christian Basilica of St Peter's in Chain where you will see the world famous statue of Moses by Michelangelo.

Vatican City Tour A Duration: half day

Starting from Piazza di Spagna your guide will take you on a short bus transfer to the Vatican City, an independent sovereign state, established by the Lateran Treaty of 1929. In the Vatican Museum the English speaking guide will illustrate part of the Sculpture Museum, the fascinating Tapestry Gallery, the Gallery of Maps and the Sistine Chapel where the most famous Michelangelo masterpieces in fresco paintings are kept, such as the Last Judgement. The tour will then proceed to St Peter's Basilica where you will enjoy the art treasures of the largest Catholic Church in the world including Michelangelo's Pietá.
