Experiencing the estuary and mangroves of Damas Island is an exciting adventure that allows you to investigate the natural history of Costa Rica's exotic flora and fauna. Mangroves are trees that grow in the tropical weather and saline coastal habitats; they provide protection from erosion or water flows to estuaries and shorelines.

This excursion will be defined by our capacity for observation in the abundance of wildlife that we encounter in this natural and impressive swamp. The three-toed sloth, different species of monkeys and snakes are found in this area as well as many marine birds.

Manuel Antonio National Park
Duration - 4.5 hours

No trip to Costa Rica's mid-Pacific region is complete without a visit to the Manuel Antonio National Park; although it is the smallest national park, is one of the most popular for the stunning white sand beaches backed by an evergreen tropical forest. Its habitants are beach vegetation, lagoons, mangrove swamps, 109 species of mammals and 184 species of birds. Cathedral Point at the end of the park, with its forest-topped cliffs was once an island, but is now connected to the coast by a thin strip of island. This land bridge now forms the spine that separates the two most popular beaches: Espadilla Sur and Manuel Antonio, a picturesque half mile long, white and beach, where you can find crescent deep green foliage to one side and a private secluded cove to the other.

Manuel Antonio contains a charming combination of tropical forest, beaches and coral reefs. The forest is home for sloths, iguanas, the rare and adorable squirrel monkeys and millions of colorful little crabs.

This is an exhilarating Class III/IV half-day challenge for more experienced paddlers. The Naranjo drops steeply from the mountains above Quepos, slicing through a beautiful jungle gorge. You'll be taken on a wild ride to sea level while passing nearby farmlands and palm plantations. Water levels can rise quickly on this river, upping the difficulty and adrenaline levels, so rafters should be physically fit and adventurous.
Savegre River Rafting
Duration - Approximately 8 hours
Bring: Swimsuit, water shoes, towel, change of clothes and sun block
Included: Transportation, equipment, bilingual guide, snacks and lunch

Beginners will love to run through the Savegre River, a family friendly class II-III River that descends from the mountains and head towards the Pacific. Along the way there are great swimming holes and a large variety of birds (egrets, toucans, osprey, parrots, kingfishers, cormorants). Primary jungle surrounds the river and a beautiful waterfall is the spot for some snacks.
