Half Day Tours

El Trapiche Tour Duration - 3 hours

It is a tour which explains the work of preparing the fresh start which the previous day with the cutting of the cane. During the tour you heard the story of how the sugar cane used was brought from neighboring farms to make the process of preparing the fresh and at the end of the course was divided between the sweet sugar mill owner and the owner of the property.

In 2005 the family of Juan Santamaría Hidalgo of God opens the doors of El Trapiche and not as a major sugar production, but as a place where we can show visitors, as our grandparents did the process of extraction sweet, in a very educational and cultural tour.

Santa Elena Cloud Forest Reserve Duration - Approximately 4.5 hours

The Santa Elena Cloud Forest Reserve is managed by the Board of the Santa Elena Technical Professional High School. It was open in 1992 and all the income is used for conservation, education and research programs. By visiting this reserve, you are collaborating with all these projects. One of the main characteristics of a cloud forest is their high level of humidity; and due to this humidity, the flora and fauna are abundant and diverse. As Santa Elena Cloud Forest Reserve is located in the Continental Divide, the warm winds that come from both oceans (the Pacific and the Atlantic) together with the rain precipitation, creates the perfect combination for one of the best cloud forest reserves of Costa Rica. At the Santa Elena Cloud Forest Reserve premises you will find one of the richest forests in flora and fauna. Different species of trees, orchids, lichens are easily found. Among the birds: the Resplendent Quetzal, hummingbirds, Black guan, toucanet and more. Some mammals are also observed, such as howler monkeys, agoutis, coati-mondis; and more difficult to see, the tapir, ocelot, peccary and pumas. Also, there is a platform from where on a clear day you may observe the Arenal Volcano and its lake. Due to its great bio-diversity, we recommend to keep all your senses alert so you can enjoy also the magnificent sounds of the forest.

Sky Trek Tour

Duration - Approximately 3 hours

This is an experience of adventure and adrenalin that will take you on a sky tram for about half mile, to the hightest point of the property and from there, a view platform of the cloud forest; you will start sliding on a network of 11 cross- sectional zip lines that were built inside the canopy of the forest. You can reach a speed of 37 M/H at heights of 42 feet while you fly over the treetops. During the tour, you will have the opportunity to stop at two high platforms that overpass the treetops to show you the great view of the northern valleys, the Pacific coastline and on a clear day, even the islands of the Nicoya Gulf. The tour guides are certified by the Costa Rica Tourist Board (ICT), which means that they have first aids training, vertical rescue skills and full knowledge of the flora and fauna in the area.

Note: This tour requires a minimum of 2 people to operate. Minimum age for children is 8 years old. Waiver is required.

Sky Walk Tour Duration - Approximately 2 hours

The Sky Walk is a network of suspension bridges, platforms and trails built in the cloud forest. From here, you will have the opportunity to explore the forest canopy in a safe and easy way, giving you a different perspective of the forests wildlife. This is a great opportunity for nature lovers and birdwatchers.
