DAY 1: Arrival into Juan Santamaria International Airport. A Swiss
Travel Service representative will meet and greet you upon
arrival and will transfer to the San Jose area. Overnight at
the hotel selected.
Check in and overnight.
DAY 2: You will be picked up in the morning at the Hotel for your
regular shuttle transfer from San Jose to the Arenal Volcano
area (approx. 4 hour transfer).
Lunch on own.
In the afternoon, regular guided tour to the Arenal Volcano
and Hot Springs. This active volcano well deserves a visit,
not only for its constant activity, but for its perfect cone
and the exuberant vegetation in the surrounding areas,adorned
by the majestic engineering masterpiece of the Arenal Lake.
Enjoy a relaxing scenery and the refreshingly cool alpine
region. While there you may even witness an explosion of smoke
and lava from the mighty Arenal. You will make a stop at the
hot springs, an opportunity for those who may want to take a
dip in the hot water sulfur springs that descend from the volcano.
Dinner will be served at the Hot Springs Resort. Return back to
your hotel for the overnight. Overnight at Hotel Arenal Springs.
DAY 3: After breakfast you will be picked up for a soft nature experience
at the Penas Blancas River. The Petias Blancas River is a very
scenic river, surrounded by the rain forest and rich in wildlife.
While you quietly paddle down the river on an inflatable boat,the
peaceful sound of nature will give you a sense of relaxation while
the boat passes by and some monkeys, iguanas, sloths, crocodiles
and numerous tropical birds will appear on the trees and riverbanks.
This is a soft nature experience that will give you the opportunity
to immerse in the daily life of a river. Rest of the afternoon at
leisure.
Lunch & Dinner on own. Overnight at Hotel Arenal Springs.
DAY 4: Breakfast at the Hotel. Morning regular shuttle transfer from Arenal
to the Monteverde area crossing the Arenal Lake by boat (approx. 3 1/2
hour transfer). Afternoon at leisure. Two night stay at Hotel Fonda
Vela.
DAY 5: Today you will visit the Monteverde Reserve. In this forest they
can enjoy the cloud forest climate and hike the trails amongst
the varieties of plants and magnificent epiphytic laden trees,
there have been over 450 bird species seen in the Monteverde
area. The native birds are joined at certain time of the year
by those that migrate through from North America. The resplendent
quetzals with their long tails feed at various locations in the
area and one can at times hear the "bong" of the bellbirds. This
area sits astride the continental divide at an altitude a bit
above 5000 feet. It protects and provides habitat for hundreds of
species of plants and animals. It is a private biological reserve
dedicated to the conservation of the rare flora and fauna of this
unique ecosystem. The reserve is 26.000 acres and is an important
link in the growing network of protected areas in Costa Rica. Rest
of the day at leisure for your own exploring.
Lunch & Dinner on own. Overnight at Hotel Fonda Vela.
DAY 6: Today you will be heading on a regular transfer to Cuanacaste Area
to your selected beach hotel. Check in and overnight at the hotel
selected in Guanacastes.
