red maple leafFun Fact: The Fairmont Le Chateau Montebello Hotel is the world’s largest log cabin. Opened in 1930, this architectural wonder originally required 10,000 logs, 500,000 hand-slit cedar roof shakes and about 100 miles of wooden molding. The resort features a six-sided, 66-foot high stone fireplace and rafters showcasing 60-foot logs.

Quebec

Just across the northern border of New England lies Quebec, a province that’s the undisputed hub of French culture in North America, yet is three times as big as France itself! It’s here where great European armies fought to determine the history of the continent, where 10 different aboriginal nations have made their homes and 27 national parks have carved out space for Mother Nature.

Montreal

Montreal, the world’s second-largest French speaking city, is very European with narrow cobblestone streets, intimate eateries, art galleries and shops. Much of its centuries-old culture is captured perfectly in the spires and ornate facades of historic Old Montreal and Old Port. A must-see for many is the marvelous Underground City, an 18-mile network of 2,000 stores, cultural offerings and restaurants. Montreal hotels are high in quality with all the modern conveniences you expect in this fascinating city.

Quebec City

Quebec City is a 400-year-old, fortified colonial city whose essence is captured in Place-Royale, the oldest neighborhood in North America that has been beautifully restored and is a pleasure to stroll the streets to visit the restaurants, cafes and shops. The lower city is surrounded by an historic stone wall that you can walk atop for great views below. Mother Nature also staked her claim at Montmorency Falls, which are higher than the Niagara Falls.

Tremblant

When you branch out in Quebec, you’ll find its joie de vivre in small villages as well. In the Laurentians, discover the Tremblant resort area, perfect for those seeking a mountain retreat with shimmering lakes and myriad golf courses. Tremblant is a four-season resort, for snowbirds in the winter, and enjoying the great outdoors with activities such as biking and canoeing in the summer. The Tremblant area is perfect for the outdoor enthusiast.
