Sr. Manager, Content Strategy

We are looking for a Sr. Manager, Content Strategy to drive the content strategy for American Express Vacations (http://www.americanexpressvacations.com, our consumer brand), and Travel Impressions (http://www.travimp.com, our brand for travel agents). Content is one of the most valuable assets for our customers, both in understanding the product they're buying or selling, and in creating an emotional response in users.
As a Content Strategist, you will define the strategy for all content types that will be used in the site (including things like property descriptions & images, destination descriptions & images, slide shows, social media, discussion forums, articles, etc), own getting buy-in from the leadership team, and own the plan for executing against that strategy including timing, budget, and resources. You will work closely with Product Manager, the Marketing team, Engineering, Design, and other teams to ensure alignment and support of the plan, and to ensure content is placed/featured/highlighted appropriately on any part of the site it is designed for. The strategy will align and support the business requirements and long-term strategy of the company.
This position is full time and based in our Farmingdale, NY.
Responsibilities:
- Define a content strategy that supports the business and strategy of our company.
- Plan site content, including scheduling, content curation, content acquisition.
- Understand the customer, to ensure the strategy and tactics has a direct impact on the business metrics.
- Deliver on various content initiatives that drive higher engagement, conversions, and other key metrics.
- Create standards for content.
- Collaboration with Marketing, Designers, Product Managers, Engineers, and others to ensure the strategy is understood and aligned with the goals and objectives of other teams.
- Recruit and hire into the team, as necessary and appropriate.
- Enable and promote a collaborative and positive team environment.
- Participate in planning with other functional teams.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent. Master's a plus.
- Minimum 2 years managing or leading an editorial or content team.
- Minimum 5 years of editorial experience.
- Strong portfolio of content-based experience, preferably in the online consumer space.
- Exceptional written and oral communication and presentation skills.
- Active participant in the social media space.
- Fast learner, self-starter.
- Team player.
